In this section we attempt to cover a few application domains that may be of interest to schools of all levels. In each domain we give a list of some of the applications that exist, however there are many, many more available. Office Applications
- OpenOffice.org an integrated office productivity suite compatible with Microsoft Office files.
- KOffice an integrated office suite based on the KDE libraries. All KOffice components work together, and you can embed every KOffice component into any other KOffice component.
- AbiWord a cross-platform Open Source word processor.
- Gnumeric a spreadsheet application compatible with Excel, 1-2-3, Applix, Sylk, XBase Quattro Pro, Dif, Plan Perfect, and Oleo files.
Account Administration:
- Authenticated User Community an intranet system designed for use in a K-12 setting.
- K12 Admin a system for administering student and staff accounts in a Kindergarten to Grade 12 school system.
- OpenClassroom a complete administrative system for the school.
- LearnLoop a web based GroupWare for collaborative learning.
- SchoolGen is a complete web-based school information system which meets the requirements of Administrators, Teachers, Parents and students.
Grade Books:
- Grader a free teacher's gradebook
- Ggradebook an application for tracking student grades for teachers.
- GradeView a Java-based grading system.
Calendaring Systems:
- Event Calendar an online event calendar which allows people to submit events, and other people are allowed to approve those events for general viewing.
